The translation of the 3rd Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE III) into Arabic further extends access to the data and the findings compiled in the report. To celebrate the availability of this language version of GRALE III, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) has invited the adult learning and education (ALE) community in the Arab States to its launch event in Rabat, Morocco on 7 and 8 February 2017. UIL is delighted to partner the hosting of this event with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the Regional UNESCO Office in Beirut and the UNESCO Office in Rabat.
The launch event will provide an opportunity for UIL to share the findings of GRALE III with ALE stakeholders from 10 Arab countries and explore a number of holistic and inter-sectoral approaches to adult learning. The event will also include discussions around important themes like the new UNESCO Recommendation on Adult Learning and Education (2015), and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In addition, it will revisit the Regional CONFINTEA VI Action Plan for the purpose of reflecting on regional priorities ahead of the CONFINTEA VI Mid-Term Review in October 2017.
The GRALE III was originally launched in September 2016. Since then, a series of launch events have helped focus on how the Report’s findings apply in different regional and national contexts. The first launch event for the Arab States took place in Amman on 1–4 October 2016 after the GRALE III Executive Summary was translated into Arabic. GRALE III is also available in French.
