The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning will take part in the Hamburg-wide ‘Long Night of the Consulates’.

On 15 May 2018, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) will take part in the Hamburg-wide ‘Long Night of the Consulates’, an annual event that welcomes visitors to explore some of the many international consulates across the city. Now in its sixth year, the ‘Long Night of the Consulates’ was established in 2012 to celebrate the Hanseatic city’s multicultural heritage, and to showcase international traditions, customs and cuisines.

This year, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), an independent judicial body established by the United Nations, has invited UIL to its headquarters at Am Internationalen Seegerichtshof 1/Elbchaussee 380 in Nienstedten, Hamburg, to present the Institute’s work, its mandate and activities.

Visitors are welcome to ITLOS from 18:00 to 22:00 to meet with UIL Programme Coordinator Werner Mauch and Head of the UIL Library Lisa Krolak, who will be on hand to answer questions and provide insight into how the Institute promotes and supports educational equality across Member States.
