UIL celebrates UN Day 2013 in Bonn

Lisa Krolak (UIL) and Lisa Freiburg (UNESCO-UNEVOC)

On 19 October 2013, UIL joined the celebration of United Nations Day on the Market Square in Bonn, Germany. UN Day marks the anniversary of the founding of the United Nations on 24 October 1945. Being the German UN city, hosting 18 UN organisations, Bonn has upheld this annual tradition of celebrating the anniversary with an all-day programme since 1996. The theme of this year’s UN Day was “8:0 for development – Water connects”, which was chosen by the City of Bonn to highlight 2013 as the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation, which is coordinated by UNESCO.

UIL was represented together with UNESCO-UNEVOC with a joint information stall in the UN tent. The event provided UIL and UNESCO-UNEVOC with an excellent opportunity to interact with about 3,000 visitors representing the general public and the international development community in Bonn.
