
11th International Conference on “Lifelong Learning: Continuous Education for Sustainable Development” at Pushkin Leningrad State University, Saint Petersburg, Russia, 31 May–2 June 2013

For the last ten years, researchers, developers and policy-makers have met annually at the Pushkin Leningrad State University in Saint Petersburg to exchange research findings in a continuously expanding network. This year the 11th International Conference Lifelong Learning: Continuous Education for Sustainable Development was held from 31 May to 2 June 2013. The UIL Director Mr Arne Carlsen was a member of the organizing committee. The conference provides an international forum for researchers at the interface between research and development in the field of lifelong learning and continuous education for sustainable development. It also supports a network of educational institutions and research centres for discussing the role of lifelong learning and continuous education in the general strategy of sustainable development.
Presentations were held on vocational training, the role of UNESCO in dissemination of continuous education ideas, teachers, and quality education. The chairman of the conference was Mr Viacheslav N. Skvortsov, rector of Pushkin Leningrad State University. The co-chairmen were Mr Nikolay V.Susha, rector of the Minsk Institute of Management and Nikolay A. Lobanov, director of the Research Institute on Social, Economic and Pedagogical Issues of Continuous Education at Pushkin Leningrad State University.
