The importance of documentation and information services for adult and lifelong learning was underlined in Bangkok by two thematic workshops-one on museums, libraries and cultural heritage; the other on ALADIN. The importance of its role also came up in other thematic workshops, such as that on democracy and adult learning, where the need to recognise and utilise libraries in achieving democracy of knowledge was highlighted. On various occasions the lack of access to and the need for relevant research on adult learning and non- formal education was mentioned.
