The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) has established a network of Junior Professors in Adult Education in Germany, to support an international and comparative profile in next-generation German adult education research. The network is co-hosted by UIL and the University of Hamburg, and aims to strengthen cooperation between UIL and its host country and city.
A first network meeting took place at UIL in December 2012. The second meeting was hosted by Humboldt University in Berlin and took place on 5 September 2103, within the context of the triennial conference of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA). Three research projects were presented by participants:
- «Adult education along the way». Speakers: Henning Pätzold and Michael Schemmann
- «Increase in participation in adult education through ICT/new media?». Speaker: Petra Grell
- «Adult education from a university perspective». Speaker: Wolfgang Jütte
The presentations were followed by a discussion of joint research opportunities and the way forward. UIL Director Arne Carlsen also presented the key findings of the second Global Report of Adult Learning and Education (GRALE), which was recently published by UIL.
