The city of EGG (Education, Growing, Giving)
Yuseong is an important city for Korea’s research and development sector. It is home to Daedeok Innopolis, which has more than 1,400 businesses and research centres, including government-funded institutes.
Vision and motivation
Yuseong is striving to revitalize the region’s lifelong learning system by fostering talent, sharing its cultural assets and providing various learning programmes that utilize the city’s excellent resources.
Challenges and goals
Yuseong is working to modernize the region’s lifelong learning system by facing sustainability challenges, increasing learning in the workplace, and extending the use of modern learning technologies. It will achieve its aim by fostering talent, sharing cultural assets and providing various learning programmes linked to its excellent social resources.
Plan and implementation
Using the slogan of EGG (Education, Growing, Giving), the city is working to create a circular learning culture that will enable individual and community growth.
Yuseong runs two lifelong learning centres that provide 520 programmes of learning a year. These include specialist IT training courses that help to create jobs for learners. In future, the city plans to cultivate learning leadership as a means of encouraging learning in the community, and to utilize free spaces as venues for lifelong learning projects.
To build a lifelong learning infrastructure that allows citizens to gain and share knowledge with others, we want to promote a sense of community through lifelong learning, and create a city full of social capital.
