A second ministerial meeting on the implementation of the ongoing second phase of the Action Research on Measuring Literacy Programme Participants’ Learning Outcomes (RAMAA II) project takes place on 4 December 2017 in Dakar, Senegal. The meeting will be held under the auspices of Mr Serigne Mbaye Thiam, the Senegalese Minister of Education, and will be attended by ministers or representatives of ministers from the 12 countries participating in the second phase of the RAMAA project: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Chad and Togo. Also joining the meeting will be project partners from Conférence des ministres de l'Éducation des Etats et gouvernements de la francophonie (CONFEMEN), Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the Africa development Bank (AfDB) in Senegal.

The first meeting at this level was held in Marrakech, Morocco, in November 2016, and resulted in the mobilization of national resources for the implementation of the second phase of RAMAA, and the development of approaches to ensure the sustainability of the project at national level. This second meeting will build on the first and will focus on:

  • progress made since the first ministerial meeting in 2016;
  • activities planned for 2018 and the strengthening of efforts to streamline implementation at national level to ensure sustainability.

This meeting is organized jointly by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and the UNESCO regional field office in Dakar.
