On 10 September 2022, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning invites the Hamburg public to visit its historic building and to learn more about its original owner, the shipping magnate Albert Ballin. Built in 1908, the imposing villa provided Ballin with a prestigious setting for the visits of high-ranking guests, among them Kaiser Wilhelm II.
As part of Hamburg’s annual Heritage Day, the Ballin Villa will be open to the general public on 10 September, with presentations about Albert Ballin and family games.
The villa, located at Feldbrunnenstraße 58, Hamburg, has been a protected monument since 1982. It has been home to the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning since 1978. 2022 marks the 70th anniversary of the Institute.
