Hassana Alidou appointed Ambassador of Republic of Niger to USA

UIL is delighted to announce that a former staff member, Dr. Hassana Alidou, until recently Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Abuja, has been appointed by Mr Mahamadou Issoufou, President of the Republic of Niger, as the new Nigerien Ambassador to the United States of America.

During her time at UIL (2009 – 2010) Dr. Alidou focused on language policy in education and development, development of multilingual literate environments, women’s studies and peace education. Throughout her career she has worked at the policy level and also in academia, authoring many publications on gender in international development and on promoting African languages and bilingual education in Africa. She was also a full professor of Education and Cross-cultural Studies at Alliant International University, San Diego, California.
