Youth employment and sustainable development were the two major global challenges discussed at the recent Global Forum on Skills for Work and Life Post-2015, organised by the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training with the support of the Federal Government of Germany. More than 250 delegates from 70 countries convened at the United Nations Campus in Bonn from 14 to 16 October 2014.

In collaboration with the Centre for Lifelong Learning Research and Development at the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), UIL introduced a joint comparative research project on the inclusion of green skills in the recognition, validation and accreditation of non-formal and informal learning (RVA).

This research will first map and identify green skills in small enterprises, in both the formal and informal economies and across a wide range of industries. It will then examine which mechanisms are in place  for the inclusion of green skills in the RVA practice of small enterprises. It will initially focus on selected countries in Asia and the Pacific (China, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Australia and Malaysia).
