During her stay at UIL, Ms Bulelwa Keke from South Africa prepared two articles that were used to streamline the curriculum in selected teacher adult education programs in South Africa. The information that she gathered is currently being applied by the wider South African Basic Education department and the Higher Education and Training department for the re-training of adult teachers. The first article was submitted to the Journal of Teacher Development, where it was accepted for publication. The second article was presented at the South African Association of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education conference in January 2013. These articles were a part of a broader doctoral study which she has now completed. She was awarded her PhD in May 2014.
Mr Sanjeev Roy from India prepared a draft policy paper for the National Literacy Mission of the Government of India on how to reintegrate non-literates into society through Recognition, Validation and Accreditation (RVA) of their prior non-formal and informal learning. Upon his return he has presented his work to his colleagues in the National Literacy Mission of the Government of India, and at seminars and conferences across the country.
