First Technical Workshop on RAMAA II competency frameworks

The first RAMAA II Technical Workshop on competency frameworks, organized from 25 to 27 October 2016 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, brought together twelve countries represented respectively by national coordinators and members of the teams, who are experts in the field. More than thirty participants from RAMAA II countries attended the workshop, including the consultant advising the UIL, Professor Hakima Megherbi from the University of Paris, Madina Bolly, RAMAA Coordinator, Mary Einbinder, Assistant to the Director of UIL, and colleagues from the UNESCO Abidjan office.

The objectives of the technical workshop on the RAMAA II competency frameworks were: (i) to critically analyse the tools of the competency frameworks developed in RAMAA I; (ii) to discuss the literacy programmes of the twelve RAMAA II countries; and (iii), to prepare a framework that will structure the development of a common competency framework.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was chaired by Her Excellency Mrs Kandia Camara, Minister for Education, Côte d'Ivoire, clearly expressing the high-level commitment of national officials to RAMAA II.

The three days of the workshop produced a very rich contextual data bank covering the various objectives dealt with during discussions between RAMAA II countries. This data bank will be a useful resource when developing the harmonized competency frameworks of RAMAA II in line with the research questions on learning outcomes, the sustainability of the learning acquired and the impact of literacy programmes.
